Rev. Dr. Lukas Soko is our current Anne Duncan Gray Visiting Scholar from September throughDecember 2017. Rev. Dr. Soko has been named by United Churchglobal partner, the Council of Churches in Zambia. He is being hosted by Emmanuel College, Victoria University at the University ofToronto.

Dr. Soko is an ordained Church minister of the Reformed Churchin Zambia, a founding member of the Council of Churches in Zambia.The Church is also a member of the All Africa Conference ofChurches, the World Council of Churches and the World Communionof Reformed Churches. He is currently a full-time lecturer at JustoMwale University in Lusaka, Zambia with interests in the area ofPractical Theology, and more recently in new emerging Christianexpressions in Africa underpinned by the prosperity gospel and theirinfluence on people’s life and faith.While in Canada for his own research, Rev. Dr. Soko is a guest and resource person to the broader church. His timehere will include opportunities for mutual learning, in formal and informal settings – as a participant or resourceperson in selected United Church or ecumenical events. Please keep this in mind as you plan your fallprogramming. The United Church’s General Council Office will coordinate any suggested engagements inconsultation with Emmanuel College and the Scholar.The United Church of Canada and Emmanuel College look forward to welcoming Rev. New Worship Team

As the incoming Interim Director of Chapel, I warmly welcome the incoming Worship Team for 2017-18: Carmen Llanos, Oliver Dingwell, Jason Meyers, and Joseph Yong Kim!
